Bases

Bases

All of our buildings require a prepared base, which needs to be flat & level, and must check that this is square by measuring the diagonals from corner to corner; these will be equal if the base is square.

For a base built specifically for the building purchased, the size of the base should be no less than 1″ (25mm) smaller than the building in both the length and width, (e.g. an 8″ x 6″ building the minimum base size required would be 7’11” x 5’11”) This will help prevent excess water sitting on the base and also the splash back effect of rain falling from the roof.

Recommended Base Types.

  • Timber Framed Base – By far the most straight forward solution! Supplied and/or Installed by ourselves.
  • Concrete – The strongest and most stable method provided that it’s correctly carried out.
  • Paving Slabs – A cheaper yet successful alternative.

Other Bases.

  • House Brick – Probably one of the cheapest options, however, very time consuming needing great care to be taken with the accuracy, positioning and levelling of the bricks.
  • Timber / Concrete support Joist – An economical option and effective one.
